Celebrating Innovation: Highlights from our 10th EAGE Stavanger Tech Talk💡

On the 23rd April 2025 we hosted our 10th physical event, marking an exciting milestone in our journey of community-driven geoscience engagement. The evening featured a series of inspiring Tech Talks under the theme 'Advancements in Seismic Interpretation Methods'.

We were honoured to host three distinguished speakers:

  • Ed Anderson, Lead Geoscientist at Geoteric

  • Adnan Latif, Head of AI & Global Services at Bluware (CMG)

  • Pierre Le Guern, VP Customer Success Head at Eliis

Each speaker brought a unique perspective to the evolving world of seismic interpretation:

🧠 Ed opened the evening with a deep dive into Geoteric's workflows for investigating subsurface geobodies and their associated uncertainties. His presentation highlighted a step-by-step approach - from data conditioning and attribute analysis to AI-driven geobody prediction and fault compartmentalisation. These tools are not only improving confidence in gross rock volume estimations but also enhancing the overall speed and accuracy of subsurface analysis.

🤖 Adnan challenged the conventional interpretation paradigm with Bluware's "human-in-the-loop" methodology. He emphasised that while traditional seismic interpretation relies heavily on the geoscientist's intuition and experience, combining this expertise with machine learning allows for more efficient, context-aware predictions. His talk illustrated how collaboration between human and artificial neural networks is transforming the interpretation process - making it faster, more flexible and less prone to human oversight.

🌍 Pierre rounded off the evening, showcasing Eliis' Paleoscan platform - demonstrating how complex geological modelling and sequence stratigraphy can now be accomplished in a matter of days. From seismic data import to fault polygon generation and well-correlation, his talk underscored the value of geologically driven workflows. He also introduced GeoBlend, a visualisation tool that brings seismic horizons to life through chromatic rendering and spectral stack analysis.

The event concluded with lively discussion and networking, reflecting the strong interest in how technology is reshaping the future of geoscience
